Rust Belt Battle of the Bikes
The National Bike Challenge is a nationwide event uniting thousands of current bicyclists — and encouraging countless new riders. In its simplest form it is a logging center for users to record miles ridden and be part of the national community of bicyclists. It is a free and easy way to challenge yourself, colleagues and the greater community to ride more.
Users compete on a local, state and national level. The Challenge aims to unite 50,000 riders to pedal 30 million miles from May 1 until September 30. The Rust Belt Battle of the Bikes is a yearly dual between Cleveland and Pittsburgh to see who can rack up more points in the 5-month long National Bike Challenge. The winner gets to hold the Battle of the Bikes Trophy in its territory until the next year’s winner is determined. In 2013, Pittsburgh was the inaugural Rust Crown Champion, however in 2014, Cleveland came back strong to show that it has what it takes to clench the title. Please visit https://nationalbikechallenge.org/local-challenge/1533 or https://nationalbikechallenge.org to join.
Any rider registered in the southwestern Pennsylvania 10-county region is contributing towards Pittsburgh’s total points. So spread the word, and invite your friends to log their miles.
The free National Bike Challenge runs from May 1st to September 30th. Sign up now by clicking below and creating an account or log-in to record your mileage..
